Malaysia's Nicol David has been the number one in the world for more than five years and in 2011, she is still unstoppable.
Although she lost to Laura Massaro of England twice this year, including in the Cleveland WISPA Classic final in February, she has also claimed four titles until August. Her success at the 2010 World Open in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt was her fifth world title in a row.
Now with 54 tour titles to her credit, David boasts the second longest run at the top of the world rankings since New Zealander Susan Devoy dominated the game from the mid 80s to the early 90s.
She retained her Hong Kong Open title last year again - her fifth champion in a row and sixth in Hong Kong including the 2005 World Open. Small and slight, the girl nicknamed the Duracell Bunny is spellbindingly fast, a great retriever, and a fully rounded attacking force. She threatens to take a strong grip on the top ranking for a while to come.
