At the 2025 World Junior Team Squash Championships held in New Cairo, Egypt, the Hong Kong, China girls’ squash team, comprising Kwong Ena, Cheung Tsz Ching, Chung Yee Ling, and Tang Helen, delivered an outstanding performance by defeating the No. 3 seed, Team USA, yesterday. This victory marked their historic return to the women’s team final since 2009, where they faced the host nation, Egypt, today at 2 p.m. local time in a fiercely contested match.
In the final, Hong Kong’s Cheung Tsz Ching took on Egypt’s top junior player and four-time World Junior Women’s individual champion, Amina Orfi. Despite a valiant effort, Cheung fell 3-11, 2-11, and 5-11. The second match saw Kwong Ena face Nadien Elhammamy, where Kwong displayed remarkable determination but lost 5-11, 6-11, and 7-11. The Hong Kong, China girls’ squash team ultimately claimed the silver medal, their first since 2009.
Meanwhile, the Hong Kong, China boys’ junior squash team competed in a close placement match against Team Japan yesterday, narrowly losing and finishing the tournament in 10th place.
