The 16th East Asian Squash Championship 2025, sanctioned by the East Asian Squash Federation and organized by the Squash Association of Hong Kong, China, was successfully held over three days at the Hong Kong Sports Institute and Kowloon Cricket Club, featuring representative teams from seven countries/regions, including Republic of Korea, Hong Kong China, Japan, Republic of Korea, Macau China, Mongolia, and Chinese Taipei.
 
In the Mixed Doubles 3/4 Playoff, the 3rd seed, Japanese Shota Yasunari/ Erisa Sano Herring, beat the 5th seed Li Haizhen/ Xu Yunxin from the People's Republic of China by 2-0 (11-2, 11-5). While in the Final, the top seed and home team, featuring the 2023 Asian Games Mixed Doubles Bronze medalists Wong Chi Him and Lee Ka Yi, successfully defeated the 2nd seed Korean duo, Jaejin Yoo/ Hwayeong Eum by 2-0 (11-8, 11-5), helping the team to take the lead.
 
For the Singles event, Team Japan, consisting of Yuta Ando, Shu Takahashi, Mahiro Nishio, and Kurumi Takahashi, successfully beat the Chinese team of Zhou Penglin, Zhang Guanyu, Liu Ziyi, and Yin Ziyuan 4-0 to claim the Bronze medal with an overall score of 5-0.
 
In the championship match, the first two Hong Kong, China players, Lai Cheuk Nam Matthew and Cheng Nga Ching Sara were faced tough battles against the Korean team’s Jooyoung Na and Mingyeong Heo. Matthew won a hard-fought five-game match (6-11, 11-7, 6-11, 11-5, 11-4), while Sara narrowly lost 1-3 (13-11, 9-11, 5-11, 6-11). With Fung Ching Hei Heylie and Tang Ming Hong defeated Korean Hwayeong Eum in straight sets (11-9, 11-6, 11-5) and Minwoo Lee by 3-1 (11-5, 8-11, 11-0, 12-10), leading the team to receive their consecutive 11 titles at home.
 
The prize ceremony and farewell dinner were held at Kowloon Cricket Club, with the President of the Asian Squash Federation, Honourable Duncan Chiu and the Honourable President of East Asian Squash Federation, Mr. Kim Won Kwan, presenting the trophies and medals to the winners, bringing the event to a successful conclusion.
