Henry Leung and Melissa Alves crowned at Contrex Squash Challenge Cup 2019 (Jan 12 2019)

Contrex Squash Challenge Cup 2019 has finally come to a successful end, after Melissa Alves of France and Henry Leung thrilled the packed crowd by winning two fascinating finals at Kowloon Cricket Club.


 

The home favourites, Henry Leung and Wong Chi Him set up the men’s final encounter after stunning the top seed Mohd Syafiq Kamal and second seed Addeen Idrakie in four games and the tough five setters respectively last night.

 


Today in the final, Henry Leung continued his fine form as he was generally in charge to clinch his first victory in this tournament in a straight game over Wong Chi Him.

 


In the women’s event, Lee Ka Yi dispatched Indian Sunayna Kuruvilla at a straight to reach the final playing against Melissa Alves who overcame another local interest Vanessa Chu in the semis last night. Being from two game down, Lee took the next two game to force a decider however, Alves managed better to clinch the victory in a tie break at 12-10.

 


Prize Presentation Ceremony was followed after. Mr. Cedric Tyen, Honorary Secretary of Hong Kong Squash, Mr. Vincent Wan, Chairman of Wan Corporate (Services) Limited, Mr. Sarwar Mohamed, President of Kowloon Cricket Club and Mr. Aaron Yip, Tournament of Director of Contrex Squash Challenge Cup 2019, were the honorable guests to present the prizes to the winners.
