Hong Kong made history to capture the first Asian Games Women’s Team Gold, Men’s Team settled with Silver (Sep 1 2018)

The men’s and women’s team continued their remarkable run in the Jakarta Asian Games to mark another historical moment after the women’s team winning over India to clinch the maiden Asia Games Team Gold whereas the men’s team claimed the first Silver medal after a 2-1 defeat by Malaysia.

 

Hong Kong and India went head to head in the women’s team final. Ho Tze Lok come as the first string to take the first two game before being levelled to 1-2 in the third game, Tze Lok managed to stick to her game and eventually get through in four games at 11-8,11-6,10-12 and 11-3 to claim the first win for the team. Annie Au, the top local player, took the full advantage of he lead, going on with her solid performance to outplay Joshna Chinappa at a straight 11-3,11-9 and 11-5 to win the first ever women’s team gold medal.

 

Hong Kong Men’s team recorded their best-ever finish in the Asian Games. Yip Tsz Fung pulled off a lead after edging past Ivan Yuen with an intensive four games at 11-7, 20-18, 9-11 and 11-8 however, Max Lee and Leo Au were halted by Malaysia in the following two strings to clinch the silver medal.
