Yip Tsz-fung

City : Hong Kong, China

Born : 19th Sep 1993

Ranking : 113 (Jul 2014)

Yip is one of the best players coming through the ranks . He is a member of the Hong Kong men's junior team finishing fifth at the 2012 World Junior Team Championship. Their previous best result was seventh in 2000.

From the first time he started the World Tour in 2009, Yip, now 20, has been making massive progress, even though he is chasing hard for his maiden professional title. But it won't be too long before the talented player realises his dream, especially after reaching the final three times over the last couple of months.

First in March's NSC SRAM Series No.2 in Kuala Lumpur, Yip was beaten by Malaysian Ivan Yuen after four games. Then came two PSA Challenger 5 events in Australia where he found Mike Corren of the hosts too tough to handle. In Top End Open, Yip was beaten in straight games before another 3-1 defeat in the NT Open.

He was first introduced to squash at six. "I went with my elder brother to the court after he signed up a course. I was very active at that time and kept running on the court. To stop me running around, the coach gave me a racket and told me to put the ball on it. I found it interesting. That year, the coach invited me to join and I started learning how to play squash."
