| An Appeal for Donation for the Sichuan victims |
|
(14 May) The Executive Committee of HK Squash appeals to all Members for donation in support of the Sichuan earthquake victims. Members who wish to make a donation may send in their cheques (payable to "Hong Kong Squash" and marked with "Sichuan victims" at the back) to Hong Kong Squash Office (23 Cottton Tree Drive, Hong Kong.) before 31 May 2008. Donations so collected will be passed on to the victims through the Liaison Office of the Central Government in Hong Kong. Thank you!

| Rebecca Chiu & Christina Mak carry Olympic Torch in HK! |
|
(2 May) Both Rebecca Chiu and Christina Mak, among the other thirty five Hong Kong athletes, carried the Olympic Torch in the Torch Relay in Hong Kong today. "It was such a great honour for Hong Kong Squash to have two representatives participating in this historic moment", said the Hong Kong Squash Chairman David Mui.
Rebecca Chiu, the top Hong Kong women's player, said: "Though squash is not in Olympics yet, I had strong feelings of being a member of the Olympic family when I held the torch in my hands, running through the cheering crowd."
Hong Kong Squash wishes a very successful Beijing Olympics and hope that Squash would be included in the 2016 Olympic Games.

| WSF: Squash on IOC shortlist for 2016 Olympic Games |

(25 Apr) Following extensive global campaigning by the World Squash Federation since the sport narrowly missed out being added to the London 2012 programme, the WSF has received news from the IOC that Squash has been included on the shortlist of sports under consideration for the 2106 Olympic Games. Squash has been selected along with Baseball, Golf, Karate, Roller Sports, Rugby and Softball.

(25 Apr) Hong Kong Junior Open 2008, which is subvented by Leisure & Cultural Services Department and supported by Swire Coca Cola, will be held between 13-17 August 2008 at the Cornwall Street Squash and Table Tennis Centre, Kowloon Tong (13-16 Aug) & Hong Kong Squash Centre, Admiraly (17 Aug). All Junior are Welcome.

(21 Apr) Congratulations to our National Coach, Mr. Tony Choi, for receiving his 'Coach of the Year Award' for the sixth time in recognition of his contribution to help the HK athletes achieve outstanding results in major international tournaments (previous awards received in 1995, 1997, 1999, 2000 & 2005). In 2007, our Junior Women's Team won 2 gold medals and 1 silver medal in the
Asian Junior Championships and 1 bronze medal in the World Junior Women's Championships.

| Clean sweep for Hong Kong boys |

(26 Mar) Hong Kong players made a clean sweep of the boys¡¦ events at the first tournament in the 2008 National Junior Squash Series played in Ballarat on Tuesday (25/3/2008). Queensland's J. Alexander was the only non-Hong Kong player to make a boys' final in the Geoff Hunt Classic - in the 19 years age group - but he found Leo Au too hot to handle and went down in straight games. Other boys¡¦ winners were Fung Ngo-Long (17 years), Yip Tsz-Fung (15 years) and Tse Man-Ho (13 years). The Geoff Hunt Classic will be followed by the Sarah Fitz-Gerald Classic, which begins in Ballarat on Thursday.

| HK retain the title of the "Inter-Cities Tournament 2008" |

(24 Mar) Congratulations to our Hong Kong Team players including (from left) Wong Wai-hang, Roger Ngan, Wong King Yat, Wong King Ngo, Szeto Ka-hei, Chan Wing-hei and Ho Tsz-lok. They beat Beijing, Chinese Taipei, Macau, Shanghai and Guangzhou 5-0 to win the 4th 'Inter-Cities Tournament 2008' in HK.

In response to the important announcement made by the Education Bureau of the HKSAR Government about suspending the primary school and kindergarten curriculum temporarily, Hong Kong Squash had decided to postpone the ¡§Fujifilm Mini-squash Scheme 2007/08 ¡V Carnival cum Inter-school Mini-squash Team Competition Prize Presentation Ceremony¡¨ scheduled on 16 March 2008 (this coming Sunday) to July. Details will be announced later.
