Hong Kong claims 3 silvers and 4 bronzes in Asian Junior Individual Championships 2015

(28 Aug) The 22nd Asian Junior Individual Championships which was successfully completed in Tehran, Iran yesterday. Choi Uen Shan and Lui Hiu Lam were defeated in a close five games in the finals of GU19 and GU15 respectively to achieve the silver medal whereas Chan Wui Ki Linclon also won his first silver medal in the BU17 event in this championships.

Nevertheless, four more bronze medals from Ling To Yu of BU19 Cheng Nga Ching of GU17, Au Lap Man of BU13 and Fung Ching Hei of GU13 were earned as well in this largest junior championships in Asia.

On behalf of Hong Kong Squash, we would like to congratulate our junior players and look forward to their more outstanding performance in the near future.

(27 Aug) HKSSF All Hong Kong Inter-Primary School Squash Competition 2015/2016 organized by Hong Kong Schools Sports Federation (HKSSF), subvented by Leisure and Cultual Services Department, supported by Hong Kong Squash, sponsored by Fujifilm, aims to provide a valuable opportunity for the primary school students to compete with each others. This event is open to all primary school members of the Federation.

The Association is very welcomed and delighted for Hong Kong Schools Sports Federation to include squash in its annual primary school awards from last year onward. This year the tournament will be held on14, 15, 21 & 22 November 2015 at Hong Kong Squash Centre.

Hong Kong Juniors advance to the finals of Asian Junior Individual Championships 2015

(27 Aug) The 22nd Asian Junior Individual Championships 2015 is being held in Tehran, Iran this week.Hong Kong Junior players including Choi Uen Shan, Chan Wui Ki Linclon and Lui Hiu Lam reach the finals of GU19, BU17 and GU15 respectively.

Chan Wui Ki Linclon upset the seed No.2 Ong Sai Hung from Malaysia at 11-9, 12-10, 7-11 and 11-6 in the semi-finals, he will meet the seed No.1 Mohammad Alsarraj from Jordan in the BU17 final.

Choi Uen Shan and Lui Hiu Lam also dispatched their opponents to meet the first seed Andrea Lee and Aifa Azman from Malaysia in the GU19 and GU17 finals respectively.

Sports For Hope Foundation Outstanding Junior Athlete Awards 2015

(25 Aug) Choi Uen Shan claimed the Sports For Hope Foundation Outstanding Junior Athlete Awards 2015 while Chan Sun Yuk is awarded Certificate of Merit this quarter in recognition of their outstanding performance in PBA 13th Penang (Malaysia) Junior Open 2015. Choi Uen Shan and Chan Sin Yuk won the 1st runner-up in GU 19 and GU 13 respectively.

Congratulations Choi Uen Shan and Chan Sin Yuk. We wish them the very best in the future ahead.

HEAD Hong Kong Junior Open 2015 came to a success

 

 

(16 Aug) The annual HEAD Hong Kong Junior Squash Open 2015 has come to a wonderful end after five days of competitions. All the finalists from the 10 divisions have showcased their best squash in front of the supportive crowds at the exhibition court in Hong Kong Squash Centre and witness Ryunosuke Tsukue (BU19) and Choi Uen Shan (GU19) to crown the champion title.

The GU19 final became all local affairs. The first seed Choi Uen Shan set to the final without losing a game to meet her teammate Chan Ho Ching. Uen Shan, unsurprisingly, claimed the champion at a comfortable 3-0.

Both top seed Japanese players Ryunosuke Tsukue and Satomi Watanabe, won over their opponents to claim a 3-0 victory in BU19 and GU17 respectively.

Meanwhile, Lui Hiu Lam defended her champion title in GU15 by defeating Malaysian Aifa Azman at a straight game.

The BU17 final between Law Yat Long Robinson and Chan Wui Ki Lincoln was being fierce, in which Robinson beat Lincoln at 11-8, 11-6, 11-9. Another Hong Kong Player Au Lap Man also captured the victory of BU13 over Egyptian Salaheldin Eltorgman.

We extend our sincere congratulation to all the winners and thank for all the generous supports. We will definitely see you all again next year.

Strongest finals line-up at HEAD Hong Kong Junior Open 2015

(15 Aug) The semifinals of HEAD Hong Kong Junior Open 2015 are completed. One of the focuses is being on Choi Uen Shan, the first seed of GU 19 who just broke into the top 8 in the World Junior Squash Championship.She will be meeting Chan Ho Ching in tomorrow・s final after winning over another local player Lam Wing Hei Jannis in 3-0 in the semi-final.

Following with Choi Uen Shan, Ho Ka Wing defeated Cheng Nga Ching in a straight game to reach the final of GU 17 meeting the top seed Satomi Watanabe from Japan.

Another arising star Lui Hiu Lam, the defending champion of GU 15, also advanced to the final playing against Aifa Azman from Malaysia. She dispatched the Egyptian Jana Shiha at 3-0 to secure her final place.

For boys・ event, it was a tough and aggressive match between two Hong Kong players, Ng Ka Yiu and Ling To Yu Andes from BU 19. Ka Yiu led the first two games at 11-7 & 12-10, however, To Yu fought back in the third and fourth games. In the seesaw fifth game, Ka Yiu finally beat To Yu at 11-9.

In BU 17, Law Yat Long Robinson and Chan Wui Li Lincoln upset the seed 1 Allinckx Roman from Switzerland and seed 2 Lai Cheuk Nam Matthew respectively. On the hand, Au Lap Man from BU13 also upset the second seed Tang Ethan Pui Lok to reach the final.

Liu Tsz Ling claimed the second Professional Tour Champion title in Malaysia

(15 Aug) Top seed Liu Tsz Ling captured her second Professional Tour Champion title in the Malaysian Tour Leg 6. After defeating her compatriot Carmen Lee in the semifinal (11-7, 11-8, 11-9), she met the 2nd seed Vanessa Raj from Malaysia in the final. Tsz Ling, at last, claimed an 11-4, 11-8, 2-11, 11-3 victory.

Congratulations to Tsz Ling! We wish her the very best in the following matches.

Semifinalists confirmed at HEAD Hong Kong Junior Squash Open 2015

(14 Aug) The semifinalists of all 10 divisions of HEAD Hong Kong Junior Open 2015 are confirmed after 3 days of competitions. The semifinals and finals will be taken place in Hong Kong Squash Centre tomorrow and on Sunday respectively.

Most of the seeded Hong Kong players reached to the semifinals. Please come and support our players at Hong Kong Squash Centre.

Hong Kong Squash Annual General Meeting 2015

(12 Aug) 2015 Hong Kong Squash Annual General Meeting was held successfully yesterday at the Olympic House. Mr. Tony Kwok SBS, IDS had stepped down from the position of Honorary Secretary and Chairman of the Executive Committee at the meeting after serving the Association since 2002. Followed by the AGM, the General Committee had co-opted Mr. Cedric Tyen (Second from right of the front row in Photo 2) , the Executive Committee Member and Chairman of League Sub-committee as the new Honorary Secretary with immediate effective whereas Mr. Kwok would be appointed as the Honorary Advisor of the Association.

We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Mr. Kwok for his long term devoted commitments and commendable contribution to Hong Kong Squash in the past 13 years. His sincere advices and guidance made a great effort for the development of Hong Kong Squash.

(5 Aug) Once again, the long anticipated HEAD Hong Kong Junior Open 2015, a World Junior Circuit Tier 2 and Asian Junior Super Series Platinum event is around the corner. This year has attracted nearly 590 entries from 15 different countries, includes China, Chinese Taipei, Egypt, India, Japan, Korea, Macau China, Malaysia, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, The Netherlands, United State of America and the host Hong Kong China, going to join this biggest junior event in Hong Kong.

Choi Uen Shan reaches the Top 8 of WSF World Junior Squash Championships 2015

(28 Jul) WSF World Junior Squash Championships 2015 is being held on 26 July to 4 August in Eindhoven of Netherlands. Hong Kong junior girls・ players made an impressive achievement in the individual championships. The current local junior girls・ No.1, Choi Uen Shan broke into the Top 8 after fighting back from two games down, defeating the American player Kayley Leonard 12-10, 5-11, 11-13, 11-9 and 11-9 in 45 minutes.

Making her last appearance in the junior championships, Choi Uen Shan reaches the quarter finals for her first time to meet the second seed Nouran Gohar today.

At the same time, Lui Hiu Lam and Ho Ka Wing also pass through the round 3 especially Lui as the unseeded player who first participated in the championships at the young age of 15, she stunned the 13 V 16 seeded player Chloe Chemtob from Canada in the round two.

We wish Choi Uen Shan the very best in the following matches and look forward to their great performances in the team event.

Lee Ka Yi and Wong Chi Him claim the title of Contrex Squash Challenge Cup 2015

(11 Jul) Contrex Squash Challenge Cup 2015 has finally came to a successful end, after Lee Ka Yi and Wong Chi Him thrilled the packed crowd as winning two fascinating finals at Kowloon Cricket Club.

The women・s final between Lee Ka Yi and Ho Tze Lok came before men・s, carrying on with her superbly performance, Lee Ka Yi led the first two games at 11-9, 11-5, though Ho Tze Lok fought back at the third, Lee still managed to win in four games at 11- 9, 11-5, 11-13, 11-7 and claimed her first professional title in her career life.

Following with Lee Ka Yi, Wong Chi Him provided the home winner by defeating his compatriot Yip Tsz Fung in four games as well at 11-6, 11-8, 5-11 and 11-9 to capture his first ever professional title in his career life.

Prize Presentation Ceremony was followed after. Mr. David Mui, MH, JP, Chairman of Hong Kong Squash, Mr. Vincent Wan, Chairman of Wan Corporate (Services) Limited, Mr. Robin Gill, President of Kowloon Cricket Club and Mr. Peter Fraser, Squash Convener of Kowloon Cricket Club, were the honourable guests to present the prizes to the winners.

Double Delight for Hong Kong in Contrex Squash Challenge Cup 2015

(10 Jul) Although the bad weather affected the men・s and women・s quarter finals to be postponed to this afternoon and the semi-finals were followed after. Having the supports from the home crowds, local favourites Ho Tze Lok, Lee Ka Yi, Yip Tsz Fung and Wong Chi Him dispatched their opponents to grantee their places in the finals.

That was all Hong Kong players in the women・s and men・s finals. the local promising star Lee Ka Yi gave out her best to upset the American top seed Latasha Khan in a tough 5 sets and Ho Tze Lok won a straight game over the young Egyptian girl, Amina Yousry.

For the men・s event, amazing performance from Wong Chi Him who beat the Indian seed No.1 Mahesh Mangaonkar at 3-1. He will be facing the second seed Yip Tsz Fung in the men・s final who carries on his victory without losing one game since the first round

Hong Kong Squash League 2014/15 Prize Presentation Ceremony cum Dinner is ON SCHEDULE

 

(10 Jul) Hong Kong Observatory has announced all the Tropical Cyclone Warnings are cancelled therefore, the Hong Kong Squash League 2014/15 Prize Presentation Ceremony cum Dinner will be held as schedule tonight at Hong Kong Football Club.

The Reception will be started at 6:30pm and the Dinner will be commenced at 7:30pm.

Bad weather arrangement for Hong Kong Squash League 2014/15 Prize Presentation Ceremony cum Dinner

 

(9 Jul) Please be informed that the Hong Kong Observatory has announced the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 is hoisted, the bad weather arrangement of the Hong Kong Squash League 2014/15 Prize Presentation Ceremony cum Dinner held tomorrow (10/7) in Hong Kong Football Club is as following,

  • The dinner will be continued as schedule IF the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 or above is took off at or before 1 pm tomorrow ;
  • The dinner will be postponed IF the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 or above is took off after 1pm.

Meanwhile, we will be closely monitoring the development of the typhoon and the weather condition; we shall inform you the further arrangement once there is any update.

Therefore, all the matches held today (9 July 2015) at KCC would be rescheduled to tomorrow (10 July 2015) at the club, detail arrangement listed as below: -

Signal No.8 or above is cancelled on or before 10.00am on Friday 10 July 2015
All four women's quarter-finals will be commenced at 12.00nn at KCC on 10 July,
All four men's quarter-finals will be scheduled at 12.45pm at KCC on 10 July,
Followed by two women's semi-finals starting at 5.00pm, two men's semi-finals starting at 6.00pm on 10 July

Main Seeds through Quarters of Contrex Squash Challenge Cup 2015

(8 Jul) The Men・s and Women・s main draw first round of Contrex Squash Challenge Cup 2015 is completed with all the seeded players advanced to the quarter finals with no surprise.

The men・s seed No.1 Indian Mahesh Mangaonkar and No.2 Yip Tsz Fung both did not have much pressure facing the local junior player Chan Wui Ki and Yuen Tsun Hei that they won over at a straight game respectively. Mahesh Mangaonkar will play against another Hong Kong player Leung Chi Hin Henry whereas Yip Tsz Fung will encounter his teammate Ma Tsz Hei.

For the women・s event, second seed Vanessa Chu defeated Cheng Nga Ching at 11-4,11-9 and 11-6, she will face the Egyptian Amina Yousry at the quarter finals. At the same time, the women・s seed No.1 Latasha Khan from United State will debut in the tournament tomorrow coming across the local promising player, Choi Uen Shan who took on the Macau player Liu Kwai Chi at an easy 3-0 today. ?

(7 Jul) Contrex Squash Challenge Cup 2015 debuts today at Kowloon Cricket Club , the qualifying rounds is completed with the featuring of Hong Kong players the home supporters are delighted to see Chan Wui Ki Linclon, Lo Cheuk Hin Chris, Choi Uen Shan, Ho Tze Lok , Ho Ka Po and Cheng Nga Ching proceeding to the main draw.

The men・s and women・s main event will be started at 4pm tomorrow. For the men・s event, the first seed Mahesh Mangaokar from India will be meeting the local young player Linclon Chan, whereas Vanessa Chu, the second seed in the women・s event will play against her compatriot Cheng Nga Ching.
